PGMA State of the Nation Address

Oh God! Jeez.. I woke up today at 3:50am for my Arnis class. As I was waiting in the pavilion for my other p.e classmates, I eavesdropped on the general assembly of the UST guards in the grandstand. And I heard the speaker telling them to disseminate the information that all classes in UST except for Civil law, Medicine and Graduate School are suspended! Hello?! I’m an A.B Journalism student? It just mean that all of my efforts were gone because of Gloria. All gone. This day was supposedly our recollection day, and it is  postponed also.

After all, luckily, I was able to ride an f/x at an instant. But, as we were approaching near Commonwealth, the f/x driver turned on the side, gave us twenty pesos, told us to get down quick so as not to interfere with the traffic, and drove back. He doesn’t want to continue his ride because he thought that he would get stucked with a heavy traffic.

The road in Commonwealth avenue was blocked by the police approximately 2 kilometers away from Sandiganbayan (Wow! that’s quite long huh?) with only a little number of rallyists at that moment but with already a huge number of policemen and women all of which is carrying shields and wearing helmets (Some kind of medieval warfare huh?). They cut the other road into two so that the rally  will not interfere with the flow of vehicles still, it’s a little inconvenient though, better than without a road to cross. Approaching Sandiganbayan, I noticed that the aura of the place was unchanged. It’s as if no rallyists could come closer to it. There were, in front and beside Sandigan, fire trucks and another set of police vehicles (as expected).

Well, that’s all I’ve seen while my f/x was slowly moving. Maybe a little hour more and the scenario would be dramatically different.

Now what?!

Now what? It’s already ten days after the said prediction should manifest? Good Lord, it didn’t goddamn happen. At least at some great thing we were relieved that it didn’t really happen. I heard a sixth-grader girl said that she absented on class last friday because of the alleged “lindol” thing (earthquake) that day, her mother told her.

Good thought there’s some greater being up there that controls everything more than that guy’s prediction.

July 18, 2008 – Philippines will get 8.1 earthquake, thousands of people will die.

This is the controversial e-mail posted by Jucelino Nobrega da Luz rampantly circulating on the internet. He is a Brazilian who started to foresee the future in his dreams when he was 9 years old. In Google, there are almost 668 links to different sites, blogs, mag sites and forums speculating on the above prediction. Some disagree and some believe telling themselves that nothing’s wrong if you follow what his prediction is.
In my perspective, I believe in him as somebody who has the ability to perceive what WILL happen because there really are people who can see the future by which they call themselves, psychics. These psychics define their abilities as ESP or ExtraSensoryPerception. ESP has a lot of faculties like telepathy(mind-reading), telekinesis(levitation), clairvoyance(seeing ghosts), clairaudience(hearing voices outside this dimension) and Dream Precognition which MIGHT basically be the ESP ability that Jucelino has. D.P is foreseeing the future through your dreams. Some dream by symbols and some literally see the exact scenario that will happen SOON. It may be tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, next month, next year etc. some predictions happen decades after (like that of nostradamus). But in his case it seems a little unbelievable because based on what I read on the internet he dreams at least 3 events or more everyday which is one thing that I can’t see in famous psychics in their glorious superb abilities.
To sum it up, I don’t know what will REALLY happen. Whatever it is, it is still a part of the natural institution which we cannot control or stop. Come what may. Maktub.
